Female downhill mountain bike frames will be smaller than male frames, and thus usually lighter. Downhill mountain bike frames made for women will usually take into account the shorter torso length and wide hip width most women boast; as such, a female downhill mountain bike will probably be eqipped with a shorter stem - the component that attaches the handlebars to the main frame of the body - and a wider seat. Most manufacturers do not make female-specific mountain bikes, but Trek and Cannondale, as well as a few other mountain bike manufacturers, are known for their specialized, female-specific frames.
