Cross Country Mountain Bikes
Cross country mountain bikes are the most popular style of mountain bike. Cross country mountain bikes are highly techincal mountain bikes, but they are designed for much less aggressive terrain than a downhill mountain bike or a hardtail mountain bike. Cross country mountain bikes are engineered to be able to cover longer distances with difficult, but not specifically dangerous terrain.
Coming in either in dual or front suspension models, cross country mountain bikes are available from a number of different mountain bike manufacturers, such as Trek, Cannondale, Mongoose, Specialized, and Kona. A Cross country mountain bike has a standard suspension travel of 4.5 inches, less than a downhill mountain bike because it is designed to ride over less dangerous, techinical terrain.
